Due to being an online student, I did not have the opportunity to experience any of the events listed above during my program. In the future, I am looking forward to being able to use these resources if they become available.

I did have a full-time position with Feld Entertainment throughout my time in the MESM Program. My position was at the forefront of my mind throughout my coursework. The courses within the MSEM program helped me realize how much I was applying concepts being taught in courses in my day-to-day role. With the program’s overall emphasis on venue management, I was able to see how venue management would be able to make decisions on a regular basis. Learning these concepts helped me be a better partner for the venues I was working with, as I was able to follow their thought processes and make similar decisions.

In addition to my full-time position, I participated in a project through SPTE 798 to meet requirements for my degree. This project was for my company and created a guidebook for new hires in the role of Tour Office Coordinator. Being able to specifically tie in coursework for this project was incredibly beneficial for my professional development.

All the information in the guide was either outdated or not written down at all due to changes in the position, and it was useful for myself and for my colleagues to have it written down. Expanding my ideas has always been a challenge for me; and doing this project helped me improve my skills in explaining why something needs to happen, versus saying it needs to happen. This is a good skill for myself to improve on to increase my leadership ability; as expanding on ideas to give an explanation behind them is a quality in strong leadership.
